There's nothing better on a crisp morning than strolling along the canalside, taking in the wildlife and enjoying the peace it brings. Cheshire is of course home to the Cheshire ring, with 97 miles of canal it's beautiful to walk or cycle along. A little closer to Chester is the Shropshire Union Canal, charmingly rural, it boasts our beautiful marina, which is the perfect place to warm up along your route.
Remember, remember! The fifth of November... We will be excitedly watching the display at Bolesworth Castle but there are loads of bonfire night celebrations happening across the county. The biggest bonfire fireworks is likely to be the Lord Mayor's Fireworks Extravaganza held at the racecourse with 18 minutes of fireworks!
If your looking for something a little quite, it's a lovely time of year to take in the autumn colours along the canal, you can hire a boat for the day from the marina and meander along the waterways. Stop at either the Cheshire Cat pub or the Shady Oak at about a two hours cruise they make the perfect mid-day rest point, alternatively, bring a picnic aboard and find your very own perfect place to moor up.
